Evac911 warns motorists about R71 sinkhole

A sinkhole had formed on the R71 at the Letaba River bridge at The Junction Letsitele.

Drivers are warned of a sinkhole on the bridge near The Junction near Letsitele on the R71 road between Tzaneen and Gravelotte.

Motorist are advised to approach the bridge near the Viva Fuel Station with caution and traffic officers from the Department of Transport and Community Safety are there to ensure safety of road users.

According to Chrisma Bredenkamp, officials from SANRAL were already on the scene. She says that the sinkhole is cordoned off and that a stop-and-go protocol is currently set up.

The sinkhole is said to be about 1m deep and 0.5m wide.
