Sky is the limit for Dr Skaro

A local musician and producer is hailed as one of the most talented young singers and producers to come from Tzaneen.

Karabo Modikwa, or Dr Skaro as he is known on stage, is slowly taking the Limpopo music scene by storm. His song, AE Enough, featuring Rise Teanet and Prince Benza, is currently on the Thobela FM airplay rotation. Dr Skaro was born in Lenyenye and started playing drums at school. He and two school friends started a band and recorded a song, but the group fell apart after two years.

He ventured out on his own and in his early career worked with Moshotli (Santel) and Danny Latsoalo and later with Dator Minister who all contributed to developing his singing and producing talents. In 2017, whilst still in high school, he collaborated with Prince Benza, and two songs, Taba Tsao and Maphodisa Nnyakeseni, saw the light of the collaboration.

He started working with H3M Productions in 2022 and went on to release his first solo project with the single AE Zowe featuring Prince Benza.

This was followed by other hits such as Dilo Txaka, and Kao Nyaka, featuring Mr Brown & Mr Fizzy. The songs made it to Thobela FM’s top 40 and all the way to the top 10. He recently released another popular song, Ake Joli, featuring Ck The Dj. Dr Skaro is currently in the studio with Mukosi working on songs that will be released soon.
