Poems on the Lowveld flow from Blight’s pen

Howard Blight, author of the bestseller, An Elephant Bloodline, recently published his latest collection of poems, Africa’s Creative Spirit - Lowveld Inspired.

The poems are inspired by the Lowveld and his secluded wilderness retreat, Giraffe Farm situated in the Timbavati Game Reserve near Hoedspruit. Blight is a well-known Tzaneen agri entrepreneur and macadamia expert. “These poems are dedicated to the rich diversity of the African wilderness where our wildlife finds sanctuary.”

“An appreciation for the importance to continue with the preservation of all habitats of ever-shrinking populations of Africa’s wildlife, cannot be overemphasised,” says Blight in his dedication. In the foreword, Quinton Coetsee, renowned international public speaker and author of the bestselling book, The Buck that Buries its Poo, writes: “When in the bush, Howard has a wonderfully sharp and keen sense of observation.”

“It’s matched with a peculiar ability to notice even the smallest details exhibited by the objects of his attention. “This sets the stage for his thorough analysis and interpretation – a prerequisite for his ever-inquisitive disposition and constant need to understand. “Howard’s deep love for the bush and his lifelong responsiveness to it is eloquently illuminated in his poetry…

His flair with word and phrase exposes a deep consciousness that powerfully stimulates the imagination. “It’s expressive, articulate, and moving. “It effortlessly evokes thoughts, emotions and memories that transports to places spiritual and geographical. “Howard’s latest collection of poems is a poignant celebration-in-prose that pays homage to the season’s magnificence and capricious moods of the Lowveld.
