SPAR in Giyani celebrates Women’s Day by giving to community

Mopani SPAR in Giyani celebrated Women’s Day by donating 97 hampers to a non-profit organisation in N’wadzekudzeku village.

The hampers included items such as sanitary towels, food, and stationery. According to Nomhle Baloyi, the owner of Dzekula Development Organisation, which received the donation, the contribution will help support their daily activities. “The SPAR donation allowed us to replenish many essential supplies at our centre. We were also able to distribute items like pens and other stationery to all of our children,” said Baloyi.

Her organisation helps children from disadvantaged families by providing meals after school, as many of them rely on school feeding schemes and often have nothing to eat at home. Her organisation ensures these kids have enough food after school. “This is the first shop to approach us with such a generous donation, and I’m very grateful to the manager of Mopani SPAR for choosing us. Their contribution has truly made a difference to our organisation.”

“We pray that God blesses them and gives them the strength to continue supporting others in need,” she said. “Our organisation supports orphans by cooking for them and helping them with their homework after school. The hampers they provided us contained everything we need to fulfil these tasks, including essential consumables like food for our centre,” she added.

Meanwhile, the SPAR manager, Bobby Mabasa, said it was their duty to give back to the community that supports them, and that he felt they needed to support an organisation run by women that supports vulnerable children. “Our goal is to give back to the community that supports us. By choosing her organisation, we wanted to encourage her to continue taking kids off the streets and providing them with what they lack at home. It’s a task that can help our society progress,” he said.
