Mafosi and Quitinezzer nominated for Satma

Munghana Lonene FM's Mafosi and Quitinezzer are up for Presenter of the Year in the traditional music category, competing against top SABC radio presenters.

LIMPOPO – Munghana Lonene FM presenters Tiveka ‘Mafosi’ Chauke and Quinton ‘Quitinezzer’ Baloyi are nominated for the South African Traditional Music Achievement Awards (Satma).

The duo, who present a traditional musical show on Saturdays called Timintsu ta Xitsonga, are nominated for the Presenter of the Year award in the traditional music category.

They are up against all SABC radio presenters including Ukhozi FM and Thobela FM, PhalaPhala FM, among other SABC stations.

Mafosi is originally from Ka Jhakajhaka in Bugeni outside of Giyani. He says they are humbled by the nomination as they did not enter the awards.

He says he grew up in a family of entertainers where everyone is a musician and a comedian.

“A nomination on its own is a win for us. Winning will be just the cherry on top. Being nominated shows that they recognise the work we are doing as a team and we are humbled by that,” he said.

The duo is best known for their jokes and sense of humour. They do not only play traditional music, but they also profile musicians.

To vote for Mafosi and the Quitinezzer SMS 110SATMA19 to 32436 or visit the Satma Facebook page for more information.
