BreezyBeats takes home the Best Amapiano award at the Limpopo Music Awards, celebrating his versatile music career and innovative sound.
LIMPOPO – Mahlatsi Rakgoale, known professionally as BreezyBeats, walked away with the Best Amapiano award during the Limpopo Music Awards (Lima) held on New Year’s Eve.
The multi-talented artist, producer, dancer, and graphic designer hails from Mphakani outside Giyani and has become a driving force in the music industry.
Although primarily recognised as an amapiano artist, BreezyBeats’ versatility extends to producing various genres, showcasing his adaptability and creativity. His close collaboration with DJ Spyda has resulted in numerous captivating projects that resonate with diverse audiences.
“Winning the award last year was truly a dream come true. I felt overwhelmed with joy like I was living in a dream. This recognition tells me to keep pushing, no matter how tough things may get, because I believe the best is yet to come,” he told the Herald
He said that in the next few years, he aims to push the boundaries of the music he creates and experiment with different sounds.
His journey in music production started humbly, using a phone app, Vibe. “In my early days, I was deeply influenced by gospel and hip-hop, which shaped the foundation of my sound,” he said.
He said that he transitioned from hip-hop to amapiano and drew inspiration from legends like Kabza De Small, blending it with his personal experiences to create something fresh and distinct.
“My latest single, ‘Mamboni,’ was written and performed by Yeg, whose heartfelt lyrics express the struggles of working hard, sacrificing sleep, and still feeling unnoticed. The song captures the desire for a better life, the frustration of relying on friends for help, and the emotional toll of questioning faith. We paired Yeg’s powerful message with a happy beat to create a track that is both uplifting and thought-provoking,” concluded Rakgoale.
