Balobedu Rain Queen celebrates matric success

Queen Masalanobo VII of Limpopo is congratulated for her Gr 12 bachelor exemption, setting a positive example for education.

LIMPOPO – President Cyril Ramaphosa was among the dignitaries who extended congratulations to Queen Masalanobo VII, the designated Rain Queen, for achieving a bachelor exemption in her Gr 12 exams.

The Balobedu Royal Nation also praised the queen for setting a positive example, emphasising that education is a vital key to success.

It is currently unclear whether the queen plans to pursue further studies, as Ramaphosa officially recognised her as the Queen of the Balobedu people, also known as the Rain Queen, in December.

Gabriel Rasebotsa, head of communications at the office of the Queen, stated that the exact timing of her official inauguration is still uncertain, as several matters are yet to be discussed, processed and finalised.

The queen, who turned 20 in January, has been raised by her foster parents, Dr Mathole Motshega and his wife, Angie, since the death of her mother.

Recently, the queen and her team were seen in Cape Town attending the ANC’s 113th birthday celebrations, where they participated in a gala dinner and interacted with prominent figures in South African politics.
