Mopani author inspires youth with debut book
Allonia Nkonwana’s debut book encourages overcoming hardships and finding purpose, offering life lessons and motivation for young adults.
LIMPOPO – Growing up in a home filled with books, Allonia Nkonwana was inspired to add her own work to the family collection.
Raised in Botladaka village outside N’wamitwa, she always dreamed of becoming an author but was uncertain about what kind of book to write.
As she navigated life as a young woman, and a university student, and through various personal experiences, she found her purpose, to write for the youth.
Her debut book, Rising to the Top, aims to empower teenagers, young adults, and young parents by encouraging them to overcome hardships and lead meaningful lives.
The book takes readers on a journey of self-discovery, highlighting the importance of purpose and personal responsibility.
“I used my observations, life lessons, and even my mistakes to guide young people so they don’t repeat the same errors,” Nkonwana said. “It’s also about motivation, proving that failure isn’t the end. You can always rise again. I had a baby just before my internship and had to take a gap year, but that did not stop me from pursuing my dreams.”
Beyond being an author, Nkonwana holds a degree in mechanical engineering and a diploma in nutrition studies.
Her interest in nutrition stems from a deep awareness of health and wellness, prompting her to learn more about the impact of food on the human body.
Her book has received positive feedback from schools in Gauteng, and she is now working on opening a nutrition and wellness spa in Tzaneen to educate locals about healthy living.
