Peppadew Limpopo refutes unpaid wage allegations

Peppadew denies allegations of unpaid wages and unfair treatment after a worker strike, urging employees to raise concerns through proper channels.

TZANEEN – Peppadew has refuted allegations of unpaid wages and unfair treatment following a strike by employees on Tuesday, March 11.

Workers accused the company of exploitation, claiming they were not receiving their full wages.

Employees alleged they were paid for only nine days after working for eleven, sparking frustration and leading to the protest.

However, Peppadew’s human resources executive, Helgard de Villiers, dismissed the claims, stating that wage discrepancies typically have explanations.

“During a previous incident, employees had changed their bank accounts, which affected payments,” he told the Herald.

He added that any workers who reported payment issues to their managers had their concerns resolved.

Further grievances were raised regarding the weighing of fruit crates, with employees alleging that both small and large crates were weighed the same, impacting their earnings. De Villiers denied the accusation, assuring that the fruit is remunerated accordingly.

“I urge all employees to address any concerns with their superiors. If they feel unresolved, my office remains open to assist them,” he said.
