LA Primary honours traffic department

Lowveld Academy celebrates improved road safety as traffic officials respond with daily patrols, donations, and learner education.

LIMPOPO – Sometimes, change begins with a single voice, or, in this case, a community determined to protect its members.

Lowveld Academy Primary School has long faced concerns about traffic safety at their school premises.

“From speeding vehicles to taxi drivers neglecting road regulations, the situation in front of our school was growing increasingly dangerous. But we did not give up. After years of raising these concerns with the traffic department, a remarkable transformation began on April 8. Since then, the department has stepped up not only with presence, but with purpose. Every morning, they have made it their mission to monitor and regulate traffic outside our gates. Their consistent presence has created a visible shift, one that has made our learners safer and our parents more at ease. But they did not stop there,” said Nicola Harding of LA Primary.

In a generous show of support, the traffic department also donated scholar patrol equipment to the school, empowering the learners to take an active role in their safety.

“To top it all off, we were honoured to welcome provincial inspector Mhangwana Jimmy Gezani, who visited the school to lead an engaging and educational session with our young learners on road safety and traffic rules.”

LA Primary thanked the traffic department for addressing their challenge.

“Your dedication has not gone unnoticed, and we’re grateful for the difference you have made. Here is to community, to action, and to a future where every child gets to walk to arrive at school safely,” she added.
