Nourish honours Madiba’s legacy

Nourish Eco Village celebrated Mandela Day with yoga, clean-ups, gardening, and community joy, honouring Madiba’s legacy of Ubuntu.

HOEDSPRUIT – On Mandela Day, Nourish Eco Village honoured Madiba’s legacy through a day filled with community, compassion, and connection.

The day began with a yoga session and intention-setting, led by Pride Muguti, COO of Nourish Eco Village. “It was a grounding way to start the day, aligning ourselves with the spirit of giving and reflection,” he said. Afterwards, the team got to work beautifying the local crèche with fresh paint and care.

At the Mesti site, staff and community members spent their 67 minutes cleaning the area, picking up litter, and restoring pride to their surroundings. “We also nurtured our aloe vera plants, ensuring they thrive and continue to offer their natural healing benefits. Every minute mattered. Every action counted,” Muguti said.

Meanwhile, at Makrepeni, the team took Mandela’s message to heart by planting “seeds of change”. They cultivated spinach and beetroot at the Makrepeni Crèche Champion and repaired the crèche’s fence to provide a safer space for the children.

As the sun set, the day ended on a joyful note with live music, laughter, and a shared sense of Ubuntu.

“A huge thank you to Hoedspruit Hospital for joining us and bringing lunch and snacks for the Green Kid programme,” Muguti added. “Their kindness brought big smiles to the children’s faces. We’re deeply grateful to every heart and helping hand who made the day so special.”
