The attack left terrified employees and customers fleeing for safety shortly before the store closed.
According to eyewitnesses, the couple entered the store together, where the woman attempted to withdraw cashback at one of the paypoints. She allegedly asked her husband to take the money and card while discreetly seeking help from security personnel. Sensing danger, the security guard escorted her to the manager’s office for safety.
Moments later, the man followed them and forced his way inside. He allegedly fired two shots, shooting the female manager in the leg.
He then dragged his wife out, fatally shot her once, and proceeded to the butchery section to collect a knife, which he used to stab her multiple times.
The man later turned the firearm on himself and died at the scene.
Shoppers and employees, many of whom witnessed the gruesome events, were left traumatised as they tried to hide during the attack.
The injured manager was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
