Lephalale man arrested over two statutory rape cases
Two minor girls in Lephalale were impregnated by a 19-year-old man, who was arrested and will face court on statutory rape charges.

LIMPOPO – The Lephalale Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) has arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with two statutory rape cases.
In December, a 14-year-old girl went to a hospital where it was discovered that she was pregnant. On the same day, a 15-year-old girl from the same area also tested positive for pregnancy following a medical examination.
Investigations revealed that both minors were impregnated by the same suspect. After learning that police were searching for him, the suspect went into hiding.
The matter was reported by the girls’ guardians, leading to the opening of two statutory rape cases.
The suspect was eventually traced and arrested on December 30 at his hideout on Makopa Farm in the Thabazimbi policing area.
He is expected to appear in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court today (Friday, January 2). Police investigations into the cases are ongoing.
