Man arrested with drugs at Tzaneen bus rank

Police arrested a 30-year-old man at the Tzaneen CBD bus rank after finding nyaope, crystal meth, cocaine and syringes in his possession.

TZANEEN – Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly dealing in drugs at the Tzaneen CBD bus rank.

The arrest was made on Wednesday (January 7) after members of the Provincial Organised Crime Narcotics Investigation Unit acted on a tip-off about a suspicious individual at the bus rank.

Officers monitored a man matching the description and approached him around 21:00.

A search led to the discovery of 228 sachets of nyaope, 53 sachets of crystal meth, 34 pieces of cocaine rock wrapped in foil, 22 syringes and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Acting provincial police commissioner Major General Jan Scheepers welcomed the arrest.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba confirmed the suspect is expected to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Friday (January 9) to face charges of dealing in drugs.
