Hoedspruit High shines at Excellence Awards

Hoedspruit High School celebrated a 97.9% matric pass rate, with two teachers and three top learners honoured at the Mayor's Excellence Awards.

HOEDSPRUIT – Two teachers and three learners from Hoedspruit High School were honoured at the Mayor’s Excellence Awards for their exceptional performance in the 2025 matric exams.

The school achieved an overall pass rate of 97.9%, with 80.8% of learners qualifying for admission to higher education, reflecting a strong culture of teaching and learning.

The awards for best performing teachers went to Mellinda de Bruyn for accounting and Deidre Gamble for tourism, recognising their commitment to guiding learners to achieve top results.

Among the learners, Kutlwano Ditsepu excelled, achieving first place in accounting and mathematics and second place in English Home Language. Ishtelle Mnisi secured third place in English Home Language and second place in Afrikaans First Additional Language, while Reitumetse Phaswane earned second place in tourism.

Mayor Thseko Musolwa praised both teachers and learners for their outstanding accomplishments, saying that moments like these highlight the dedication, talent, and hard work present in Hoedspruit.

School representatives expressed their gratitude for the recognition, noting that such acknowledgment motivates both educators and learners to continue striving for excellence.
