TotalEnergies delivers water relief to flood-hit Phalaborwa
TotalEnergies distributed thousands of litres of drinking water to Phalaborwa residents after recent floods, with more relief planned across Mopani.
PHALABORWA – Following recent floods that affected several Ba-Phalaborwa communities and led to a shortage of clean water, TotalEnergies has provided much-needed relief through the distribution of thousands of litres of drinking water to affected residents.
A total of 6 336 five-litre bottles of water were distributed to the community during a relief drive held at the TotalEnergies Namakgale on Friday, January 30.
One community member, John Makwela, said that the donation brought relief during a difficult period.
“Water has been a serious challenge since the floods. Some days, we did not know where our next drinking water would come from. This support really means a lot to us and shows that we are not forgotten,” he said.
Namakgale TotalEnergies site manager Camilla Shingange said the initiative was driven by compassion and a strong sense of community responsibility. “Our goal was to support those affected by the floods. Many communities continue to face challenges with access to clean water, and we aimed to provide safe drinking water to help alleviate that burden,” she said.
TotalEnergies also confirmed that a second phase of water distribution will be rolled out through the Mopani District Disaster Management, which will distribute the water to communities across the Greater Giyani Municipality.
