Police seek help to trace man in Muyexe murder case

A 55-year-old woman was found dead in Muyexe following a stabbing incident. Police have appealed for help in locating a man linked to the case.

LIMPOPO – Police are appealing to members of the public for assistance in locating a man who may be able to assist with investigations into the murder of a 55-year-old woman in the Muyexe policing area.

According to police, the woman was found with multiple stab wounds at Mninginisi Block on Sunday (May 31), at approximately 17:30.

Police spokespersons said officers responded to a complaint and, upon arrival, found the woman lying on the ground. Emergency Medical Services personnel declared her dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman had reportedly been returning from a local spaza shop when she was allegedly attacked by an unknown assailant.

Police allege that the attacker used a knife during the incident as a broken knife handle, believed to be linked to the attack, was recovered at the scene.

The victim reportedly called for help, prompting her daughter to rush to the scene, where she found her mother injured.

A murder case has been opened and police have launched a manhunt as investigations continue.

The motive for the killing has not yet been established.

Police have appealed to Xitayi Hlungwani (47) to present himself at the nearest police station or contact the investigating team, as they believe he may be able to assist with the investigation.
