3rd suspect in Giyani courier robbery case in court
Police tracked a third suspect to Gauteng after a courier vehicle was hijacked in Giyani. He will appear in court with two other accused.

LIMPOPO – A third suspect linked to the recent hijacking and robbery of a courier delivery vehicle in Giyani has been arrested and has appeared in court.
The arrest follows an incident on May 27 at Dingamazi village near the R81 road, where five armed suspects allegedly intercepted a courier delivery vehicle and robbed it of various parcels destined for delivery in and around Giyani town.
How police tracked him down
Following the robbery, members of the Mopani District Tracking Team, Mopani Flying Squad, the Thohoyandou Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit, and Giyani police followed up on intelligence.
The team proceeded to Mavele village in N’wamitwa, where a VW Polo allegedly used in the crime was located.
During the initial arrests on the same day as the robbery, two suspects were apprehended. However, the third suspect – identified as the driver and owner of the VW Polo, Watu Qono (35) – managed to evade arrest.
Suspect found in Gauteng
Police later traced him to Gauteng, where he was residing, and brought him back to Giyani to face charges of armed robbery and carjacking.
He appeared in the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, June 3, and was remanded in custody until Thursday, June 11, for further court proceedings.
All three to appear together
His two alleged accomplices, Greeters Tiyani Khosa (26) and Percy Tshepo Modiga (25), previously appeared in the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court on May 29.
Now that all three suspects have been arrested, they are expected to appear together in the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, June 11, for a bail application. One suspect remains at large.
