Suspect arrested following Deerpark farm attack

Authorities have urged the public not to circulate unverified information while the investigation and legal process continue.

TZANEEN – A suspect has been arrested following a violent attack on a Deerpark farm near Tzaneen on Friday, June 26.

According to police, a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) has been opened after the incident, which left the victim with serious injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after the attack and is expected to make a first appearance in court on Monday, June 29.

Police have confirmed that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.

No further details have been released at this stage as the matter is now before the courts.

According to reports, the victim is a well-known farmer who was allegedly attacked with a panga during the incident. He sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at Tzaneen Mediclinic.

Authorities have urged members of the public to allow the legal process to unfold and to refrain from sharing unverified information while the investigation is ongoing.
