Away with Xenophobia..away at last!

Foreign nationals are being bludgeoned and slaughtered in our “Rainbow Nation”, seeing the horrific images that were being shared on social media, I couldn’t help but chisel my teeth.

My beloved country never ceases to amaze me, during the month of love, ironically, hate and animosity is what is on display.

Foreign nationals are being bludgeoned and slaughtered in our “Rainbow Nation”. Seeing the horrific images that were being shared on social media, I couldn’t help but chisel my teeth.

Our moral compass is way off and the thought of what is going to happen next frightens me.

I really cannot understand the logic behind these attacks and the people who shamelessly try to justify these senseless attacks on people who are just trying to survive in a foreign land.

They are already away from home due to a wide variety of reasons; the last thing they expect is to be attacked.

It is no secret the high unemployment rate in our country is very unsettling and our dwindling economy is not making matters any simpler, poverty is rife with many living in horrible conditions and a rapidly rising crime rate causes frustrations, but that doesn’t permit South Africans to go on a killing spree.

We pride ourselves on being a diverse country, we speak of Ubuntu but we seem to contradict ourselves in committing these inhumane killings.

If we think foreigners working in our country and creating businesses that are thriving is the root of all our problems, and murdering them is the solution then we have unfortunately lost it as a country.

Surely, there are channels that could be followed rather than taking to the streets, looting foreign-owned shops and attacking everything foreign in site leaving a trail of destruction to property and fatalities. Our “Rainbow nation”, is anything but!
