Rural schools get new sport kits

Daughter of Destiny (DoD) donated soccer and netball kits to Realishisha and Modisha High Schools in the Greater Letaba Municipal area on Thursday, May 11.

The two schools in Shawela and Maphalle villages respectively qualified to get donations by excelling in the DoD organised Quiz Championship.

The founder of DoD which is a national, non-profit organisation that provides strategic counsel and innovative solutions for today’s complex educational challenges in rural communities, Babsy Shilubane said the purpose of donating sport kits is to “make a difference” in the lives of the learners in the two schools.

“Education is a powerful tool to alleviate poverty and what better way to achieve such than making learning fun through sports,” said Shilubane.

She encouraged learners in the two schools to double their efforts in their school work in order to pass at the end of the year.

Shilubane advised learners not to let their background determine their future. “Never allow your circumstances to stand on your way to succeed,” she said.
