Power United FC suffers 4-0 defeat in U13 league

Power United sunk to the bottom of the U13 Greater Giyani Local Football Association Youth Premier League (GGLFA) after losing 4-0 to Ngula FC over the weekend in a match played in Section F.

The match got off to a good start as Power United successfully repelled all of Ngula FC’s attacks in the first half to keep their strikers at bay. The home team nearly took the lead early in the second half but missed a simple square pass that would have given them the advantage. A subsequent free kick by their striker ended up hitting the post, eliminating any opportunity they had to take the lead in the match.

Ngula FC, meanwhile, did not waste their chances, scoring twice in quick succession to send shivers down the home team’s spines and spark a panic that caused their defence to become disorganised. The visitors swiftly scored the third and fourth goals to firmly take control of the game. Power United’s goalkeeper was not at his best and any shot in the direction of the goalposts that managed to get past their defence was guaranteed a free pass into the net.

“This is a development league, and we don’t throw away a player if he doesn’t perform well. “I have to train him until he becomes a better goalkeeper,” commented Power United’s coach, Joseph Thonsi. “I think he did well, especially in the first half. I believe he was tired in the second half, which is why he did not perform well,” he defended his goalkeeper. Power United’s attempts to move up the league ladder have been hindered by the defeat on Saturday.

With only 13 points out of 16 games, they desperately needed a victory to help them stay afloat. Ngula FC, on the other hand, did not have anything to worry about because they already ranked near the top of the league. With 35 points from 16 games, they are presently third in the league. They trail the team in second place by just one point. Depending on how the other teams play in their matches, the victory on Saturday might easily propel them to second place in the league.
