TZANEEN: Dancer on her way to New York

Tzaneen born and bred dancer, Xiluva Skhetana (20) is on her way to the big apple.

Skhetana will take part in the World Class Dance Tour in 2019, where she will be performing together with dancers from all over the world.

However she needs to first raise R40 000 before she can realise her dream of going to New York (NY) and to join the dance tour.

“I want people to know that anybody can go anywhere around the world to do what they love, going to NY has always been my dream, I want to go there and improve, learn and have fun and mostly become a good dancer and a teacher,”Skhetana explained.

She is inspired by American singer and dancer, Ciara, locally she looks up to the likes of Bontle Modiselle and Terry Alberts.

She is a versatile dancer, but Xiluva admits to loving hip pop dancing the most.

Wesley Mamafa, who is one of her mentors is pleading to the community of Tzaneen for financial assistance towards her trip.

Emelda Tintswalo Shipalana
