Local beauty Queen wins provincial title

Tzaneen’s very own model and beauty queen, Mahlatse Makwela reigned supreme after being crowned Miss Sundowns Limpopo Princess on Saturday at the Protea Hotel in Polokwane.

Makwela will soon compete with other beauties from all around the country for the title of Miss Sundowns 2018/2019.

The 24 year old is over the moon with her win and says she is looking forward to the big event.

“If I can explain how I feel about my win in one word, I would say ‘triumphant’.

“I have entered the pageant three times before with no luck and only win on the fourth attempt.” She was given a cash prize of R60 000 for the provincial title.

At university she was scouted to be a model and later joined Ice Models, a modelling agency where she was afforded the opportunity to work with Fashion Designer, David Tlale. She was also on the covers of Mr Price.

In 2017 she was in the Top 12 of Miss Regal International South Africa and she also worked with Palse at the South African Fashion Week 2018.

She is without any doubt a beauty with brains as she is currently applying for her Masters in Industrial Psychology and she is currently a Human Capital Associate at MMI Holdings.

Makwela says it gives her great joy to represent her community of Nkowankowa and hopes to continue raise the flag up high.
