TZANEEN: Local writer pleads for help

Locally brewed film writer, Philemon Chauke pleads for the community's assistance in helping him to be established as a film writer.

Chauke from Nkowankowa but originally from Majozi Village outside Giyani, says that writing flows through his veins.

Although he does not have formal training as a writer and does not have a lot of experience in the industry, he believes he has more to contribute to the South African film industry especially in the Xitsonga narratives.

“At high school I used to write short stories, but I did not think much of it until the last few years.

“I get inspired to write from almost anything, sometimes, I’m able to formulate a storyline from a song playing on the radio or even listening to other people’s conversation,” explained Chauke.

He has currently written a number of stories including; Blood Split from the Throne, Silver and Gold, Cameleon and Family Apart, among others.

Chauke told THE LETABA HERALD that his wish is to find people with indepth knowledge of the industry to guide him with his writing career or even for some of his work to be produced on television.
