Local beauty a 2022 Miss Bachelorette semi-finalist

Mamokone Lindiwe Moagi from GaSekororo, Lorraine village in Maruleng Local Municipality is a 28-year-old Miss Bachelorette SA 2023 semi-finalist.

“I have never participated in any modeling before, but I always had the desire to do it from age 10, but with a lack of motivation, no confidence, and no opportunities growing up I never participated. I entered Miss Bachelorette SA this year after I was informed by a friend what it is all about, which is women’s empowerment, and this being my passion, I wanted to be empowered so that I may lead and empower others,” she said.

She said that one of the greatest challenges in modelling is being independent and leading by example. “Being a model for people is very stressful, especially since you have to check where you are, how you behave, what you write on your social media, and the way you handle yourself in the public. The other challenge is raising funds. This one stretches you out of your comfort zone because now you have to approach sponsors and create initiatives to raise funds. Asking for money from someone else already is stressful,” she added.

“I was motivated as a woman when I realized that being in a pageant is more about discovering yourself as a woman. I was inspired by the fact that this pageant is for ladies between the age of 25 to 50 in South Africa. This platform fights against gender-based violence, by empowering women. I was also inspired by the fact that all women of all body shapes, sizes, heights, and weights are given an opportunity to participate irrespective of all those factors because they make you not any less of a woman. I realized that as a woman I can also showcase my beauty, talents, and greatness to touch other lives out there,” said Lindiwe.

Lindiwe also gave out tips on being a successful beauty pageant. “Have an agency or life coach. Look after yourself, be fit and fine and develop your skills in posing and walking. To all girls interested in the pageant I would say, Congratulations on having the interest! Face your fears and give yourself a chance. Never give up, work hard because hard work pays. Be good to people and yourself. Have a positive attitude, and have faith in yourself.

Be responsible for everything that happens in your life. Be accountable. Do not be afraid of challenges, there is growth in challenges,” she said, Lindiwe is a mother to a beautiful girl aged 6, a poet, an author and currently working as a midwife. She is passionate about women in leadership and women empowerment and she is the CEO of MamoLending Hands Organisation.
