Midrand-based publishing company heeds call to help ageing Olifantsfontein Primary School

The school's principal Lesibana Molepo says, the school is in overcapacity by close to 50%.

TW Publishers in Midrand heeded the call from the Olifantsfontein Primary School to help fundraise as the school will celebrate 110 years of existence.

The school was founded in 1913.
Founder and CEO of TW Publishers, based in Waterfall City, Webster Tsenase said they heeded the call to help the school as they saw a need to give a helping hand.
Tsenase says he previously attended his primary days at the same school. Tsenase (34) said they were helping the school get sponsorship from Beka-Schréder and Jumbo Brands.

“We are helping the school with their fundraiser event by helping them get sponsors for their event. We managed to get Beka-Schréder and Jumbo Brands on board who have also bought former Bafana Bafana striker and legend, Mark Williams’ book ‘From Gangster to Soccer Legend’ for the kids on the day when Mark speaks to the kids,” said Tsenase.

Olfifantsfontein Primary School principal, Lesibana Molepo said the school serves Olifantsfontein and Clayville communities which have grown exponentially, leading to overcrowding in classrooms.

“The classrooms now cater to about 50 learners and were originally meant for 35 learners maximum. The school is overcapacity by close to 50%. We have about 2000 learners in a school meant for 1400 maximum,” said Molepo.

Molepo said currently the school is in a state of dilapidation and decay due to normal wear and tear.
The school wants to raise funds to build new toilets.
