Man ambushed at taxi rank

MIDRAND - Police are investigating a robbery case after two men ambushed a man at Halfway House taxi rank.

Police spokesperson, Constable Matome Tlamela said the men approached the victim pretending to be asking for directions.

“One of them pulled out a firearm and demanded a cellphone and money from the victim which he refused to give. They then searched him and took his two cellphones and a wallet containing R 1500 and bank cards,” she said.

The suspects also left with the victim’s file containing provident fund documents, certificates and ID book.

The victim saw them getting into a red car and speeding off.

No one has been arrested yet and police have asked anyone with information that can lead to the suspects arrest, to contact the Midrand police.
