Furry fun at the world of cats and dogs

MIDRAND - Hoards of furry friends and their owners descended on Gallagher Convention Centre for the World of Dogs and Cats expo from 19 to 21 July.

Everything from horses, cats and dogs to guinea pigs and bearded dragons were being exhibited and pet owners were delighted to find a wide range of pet products on offer.

Proud pet owners were given a chance to show just how special their fur babies are with round the clock dog and cat shows and potential pet owners were able to attend talks and discussions about many different creatures.

The aim of the WODAC expo is to educate pet owners and potential pet owners on a variety of different animals.

The expo both entertains as well as informs the public about the upkeep and well-being of reptile, feline, canine and rodent pets.

The My Rhino campaign was also on display with artist, Clement Mkhize hand-painting a life-size rhino sculpture.

The rhino sculpture will be auctioned off on 3 October at Hyde Park Corner to raise funds for The Endangered Wildlife Trust.

Other organisations also raising awareness were Guidedogs SA and Hillside Haven, the only animal shelter in South Africa which houses mainly disabled animals.

It was a treat for adults and children alike but children were particularly thrilled to be able to hold and pet lots of cute puppies, kittens and bunnies.

It was the perfect activity for a furry, fun-filled family day out.
