Sagewood school honours Madiba

The juniors showed their love for Madiba by reading poems and speeches about the Mandela legacy while the seniors reflected on the principles Mandela taught South Africans.

Eight grade 11 learners lit a candle for every principle Mandela stands for while explaining the significance to the school.

At the end of the ceremony director, Johreen Patel cut a special Mandela Birthday cake while the school sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Madiba.

Then representatives from all the classes set a flurry of balloons into the sky, to the delight of the pre-primary pupils.

The school also practiced the ‘hands across South Africa’ initiative and held hands in a wonderful show of unity.
