Fun run for healthy living

IN order to encourage employees to practice healthy eating and leading healthy lives, Bluesage Landscapes hosted a 5km fun run.

The fun run took place on 8 August and started at their premises, just off Republic Road, looped through Modderfontein Road and ended back at the business.

The idea for the fun run came after fitness tests were conducted at Bluesage Landscapes and it was discovered that many of the employees were suffering from hypertension and respiratory problems. Site manager Gideon Mathe decided that the fun run was a perfect activity to show the workers that exercise and healthy eating can be lots of fun. Assistant manager Gugulethu Nkabinde said, “I think this is a really good idea to keep our bodies healthy and fit.”

The fun run had a festive atmosphere with the workers eager to start. They were addressed by Mathe who explained the route, as well as the significance of doing the fun run. Director of Bluesage Landscapes Patience Mphela added, ” I’m so impressed because this was an initiative by the workers – not by me. I really support this move to get healthier and would like to build a small gym on the premises for the employees so that we can make this a regular thing.”
