Midrand Primary’s drama pupils to perform at State Theatre
Midrand Primary School's extra-mural drama group will be performing at the Youth Arts Festival, which will be held at the South African State Theatre in Tshwane on 31 August.
Drama teacher Brian Jokozela teaches the group of 14 drama enthusiasts after school, four days a week.
The extra-mural drama pupils all show a keen interest in performance and their entry into the after school programme is dependent on an audition process.
The talented performers will be acting out a play at the Youth Arts Festival called The Magic Dustbin, which has a strong environmental message.
Drama pupil Naledi Rerayi said, “We are very excited to be doing the show this weekend but I’m also a little bit nervous.”
Humanities head of department and cultural co-ordinator, Evashni Perumal said, “We are very proud of the achievements of both our teacher and our learners. They’ve worked consistently throughout the year to prepare for this performance. Parents or members of the community are welcome to come along and watch the show. Tickets are available from Computicket.”
