Tree falls on car on Dale Road

MIDRAND - A tree fell on a motorist headed for the Midrand Traffic Department on Dale Road.

The driver, Michelle de Klerk, managed to escape unhurt. She said, “I was going to the traffic department to change ownership details on a horse box I sold. The tree fell on my second trip to the department when I (returned) from doing affidavits at the Midrand Police Station. I was shocked when I noticed that as I passed the tree (it) was also falling onto my car, but I am not hurt.”

Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene and the tree was removed from the vehicle, which had a shattered windscreen. The roof of the car caved in from the force and weight of the tree’s branches. The emergency team cut off the branches that were blocking the road and removed them.

Sydney Mashala, of Kgotso Mokone Traders, was driving behind de Klerk’s car and saw the tree fall. He said, “I was shocked when I saw the tree fall onto her car. I was lucky that I managed to stop my car quickly and did not bump into her. I am glad she is not hurt.”
