A festival of flavour

KYALAMI - This year's Dussehra Mela in Kyalami promises to be a family fun day on 12 October at 64 Maud Avenue.

The Hindu festival is returning to Kyalami for the fifth time and is a celebration of good over evil; a reminder to humanity that good will always prevail in long run.

The non-profit organisation Ubhas, based in South Africa, is organising the festival. Ubhas supports welfare programmes that uplift unprivileged segments of South African society.

A theatrical interpretation called Ramleela will be performed in the spirit of the Hindu epic Ramayana. Bollywood dances and songs along with Bhangra music promise to entertain audiences as they are performed live on stage.

Various food stalls will also be on offer where guests can enjoy different types of Indian food.

The festival is supported by the Indian government and entry is free.
