Police clamp down on drug crime
MIDRAND - Police stamped out some drug crime in Midrand last week.
On 3 October, a 25-year-old man was arrested for dealing in drugs on North Street at the Midrand Taxi Rank.
Midrand police spotted the suspect carrying a bag while he was walking along North Street and stopped him.
The man was searched and he was found in possession of about 15 small Ziploc bags containing drugs.
The suspect was arrested and will appear in court soon.
On 2 October, police arrested three suspects aged between 25 and 38 years for possession of drugs in the Midrand area during the stop and search operation under operational commander Captain Lionel Chetty.
Midrand police communication officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “This kind of operation will be conducted continuously until the drug dealers stop ruining our children’s lives and flooding our area with drugs.”
