Miss Midrand lights up the catwalk
GLEN AUSTIN - While the wind howled and the dark clouds struggled to hold the rain drops, Liedjieboer was filled with pomp and pageantry in aid of charity.
The Miss Midrand competition saw many of Midrand’s beauties strut down the catwalk in an attempt to clinch the Miss Midrand title in their respective age groups.
The competition was started in 2011 by Miss Teen Africa Patron 2011, Leandri Heyns and Miss Teen Rivonia 2013, Natasha Joubert, and while being a beauty pageant first and foremost, it also raises funds for Barking Mad. Joubert said they had seen the competition grow every year and that it was heart-warming to do it for a good cause. Girls and women of all ages, including a Mrs Midrand, took to the catwalk.
Melissa Strydom was crowned Miss Midrand 2013, Chante van Wyk was first princess and second princess went to Chante du Randt.
- Miss Teen Midrand 2013 is Zanele Phakhatsi who also won The Face of Miss Midrand 2013, first princess is Kayeigh Victor and second princess is Sinamile Dlamini.
- Pre-teen Miss Midrand 2013 is Lisa Koedoder with first princess Ashleigh Victor and Noelle du Plessis as second princess.
- Miss Junior Midrand 2013 is Bianca Rautenbach, first princess is Belinde Schreuder and second princess is Bodean Peters.
- Little Miss Midrand 2013 is Eunice Sherman and winner of the Best Dressed prize, first princess is Marche Beneke and winner of Miss Personality as well as second princess Charleze Venter.
- Tiny Miss Midrand 2013 is Izandri Jacobs, who also won Overall Supreme Miss Midrand 2013, first princess is Natalie Krause and second princess is Shay Brown who also won Miss Cutie Pie.
- Mrs Midrand 2013 is Junita du Randt, and winner of Best Dressed prize, with first princess Sindy Dlamini and scond princess Bianca Esterhuizer.
