Vorna Valley cleans up its act
VORNA VALLEY - While road users in Vorna Valley use the streets as their rubbish dump, one man is making an effort to help keep the streets clean.

Edwin Ndhlovu does a ‘clean sweep’ around the suburb once a week to collect as much rubbish as he can. His efforts are sponsored by Wendy Redl of Harcourts. The Vorna Valley Residents’ Association has extended their thanks to Ndhlovu and Redl, as well as to Pikitup, which collects the bags of rubbish.
Last week, Ndhlovu cleared Harry Galaun and a portion of Le Roux Roads.
The residents’ association asked more residents to assist the clean-up campaign by ensuring that their property verges and nearby roads are kept clear of litter. Residents are also urged to remove any illegal signage.
The association’s quest for a clean suburb transpired into a clean-up day in September, which helped to rid rubbish from roads in the suburb and vlei.
The association pointed out that a large section of Harry Galaun and Albertyn Roads, as well as most of the vlei and various open land areas, were in need of attention as they appeared to be illegal dumpsites.
