Festive season, a time for giving
WATERFALL CITY - Netcare Waterfall City Hospital is calling on the public as well as corporate companies to join in their initiative to collect gifts for children in need.

Marketing officer at the hospital, Deshen Naidu said, “Netcare staff decided to put together gifts and put them in shoe boxes, Santa’s Shoe Box. We are calling on residents and companies in Midrand to join us in this initiative. The gifts we’re collecting are for abandoned children at Midrand Child Welfare.”
The Midrand Child Welfare is a non-governmental child protection organisation in South Africa. They provide much-needed protection services for orphaned, neglected, abused and vulnerable children. Netcare is hoping the Christmas gifts for the little ones will lift their spirits over the festive season.
Some of the suggested gift ideas for a shoe box are as follows:
- Plastic aprons, play dough, cream finger paints, puzzles and lunch boxes
- Pencils, crayons, A5 colouring books, 100-piece puzzles and blunt-nosed scissors
- SA Oxford School Dictionary, oil pastels, glue sticks and a water bottle
- Tennis ball, soft toys, building blocks, pencil case, tooth brush and tooth paste
- Face cloth, soap, hair accessories, barrier cream and baby soap
- Deodorant, makeup, nail polish and sunglasses.
“Please do not include tinned or perishable food, medicines, toy guns or knives, glass containers or battery-operated items.” Naidu added.
