Get to know Goodluck

THE band Goodluck stopped by at Mix FM to chat with Roxy Blows and the Midrand Reporter on 7 November.

The three band members from Capetown, Ben Peters who plays electronic percussions, Juliet Harding, songwriter and singer; and Raiven Hansmann on saxophone, have been together for four years.

They were enthusiastic about their latest album which was released on 1 November. The album titled, Creatures of the Night has a brand-new single called Trickery with a modern pop and drum arrangement.

The band said the album is eclectic because every song has a different sound and said they had fun recording the album in Namibia.

“The album is paired up with a documentary, This Might Sound Crazy, which showcases the production of the album on the Namibian desert.” Peters said.

Hansmann said the band is very excited about the album, “Our album is organic in that we integrated sounds of the ocean and pebbles into our music. We wanted to present electronic music in a fresh way.”

Blows asked the trio if they got on well with each other. Harding responded, “We do get on very well with each other but like everyone else, once in a while we do have our moments. We challenge each other and that is the magic that shapes our music.”

Goodluck was nominated at the South African Music Awards for Best Dance Album and Best Duo and Record of the Year in 2012. The much-awaited documentary of how the band makes their music premiered at The Zone in Rosebank on 6 November.
