A swing to help care centre

BLUE VALLEY - The Boys Golf Club hosted a fund-raising tournament at Blue Valley Golf Estate on 22 November.

The tournament was held in support of Tswaranang Care Centre Midrand, an organisation that looks after orphans and vulnerable children and people infected with HIV/Aids. The co-founder of the Tshwaranang Care Centre, Sheila Thomas, said the organisation faces closure in December if they can not secure enough funding. “We are thankful to The Boys club for the support they have shown us,” said Thomas.

Spokesperson for The Boys Golf Club, Gerald Thomas said, “Every member of The Boys club used their expertise to get support from their contacts for the golf day event. Our partners Allandale Trading, Gavin Lombard, Sam Bhembe, Scott Hollywood, TWC South AFrica, Acuity Consultants, Auto Bavaria Midrand, Deutsche Bank, 4 Play, Phambili Meat Wholesalers, ABI and the Pro-Shop Woodmead made this day happen. Other partners that assisted were Protea Hotel Midrand, Sizwe Ntsaluba Gobodo, Distell, Hlanaganani Waste, Rob Kearns, Sandy Thomas, Donerine Habana, Pat Lowth and Blue Valley Golf Club.” Thomas added that without their support Tshwaranang would not have the financial support they are seeking.

“The Boys Golf Club takes pride in the work we are doing for an organisation like Tshwaranang. We plan to make the golf day an annual event so that we may continue to fund-raise for other initiatives.”

The Boys Golf Club managed to raise R50 200 from the event. An additional R14 800 was donated by Deutsche Bank.
