Spread Christmas cheer for Cluny

SUN VALLEY - Cluny Farm Centre's development officer Juanita Cronje reflected that 2013 had its challenges but had definitely been the most rewarding and humbling year of her life.

Cronje said, “I have learned, loved and cried, got to know the most amazing people; people like you and me, men and women with their own fears and hurt. People that smile every day, no matter what the circumstances are, people who truly know how to appreciate all things, big or small. These are the residents of Cluny Farm, each one with their own unique personality, facing the everyday challenges with the biggest smiles and the kindest hearts. I love and care for them so much and would really like to make this Christmas one they will never, ever forget.”

Cronje helps the centre – which is a working farm for intellectually disabled adults – with fundraising and asked community members to help make the year-end special for the residents.

“Let us remember how fortunate we are to be able to spend time with our loved ones this Christmas and not forget that there are some of these residents who have no family to spend this time with. For many of them, Cluny is the only family they have.”

On 24 December Cluny Farm will hold a Christmas lunch for residents and staff and Cronje appealed to community members to help give them gifts.

Cronje said the residents needed socks, toiletries and practical gifts. There are 56 residents at Cluny Farm: 26 men and 30 women.

“Please help us in making this special time a Christmas to remember,” said Cronje.

Donations can be delivered to Cluny Farm’s offices on weekdays, between 8am and 4.30pm. She thanked everyone for their continued support.
