Coffee shop robbery, staff assaulted

MIDRAND- A coffee shop on Bekker Road in Waterfall, Midrand, was robbed on 2 December.

Midrand Police spokesperson Matome Tlamela said, “The complainant and owner of the coffee shop said when the shop was about to close, five suspects with three firearms entered the shop and one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the complainant.”

Tlamela said the suspects stole a laptop, iPhone, R1 400 in cash and the shop’s security video footage. There were five staff members in the shop during the robbery, but two staff members managed to run away. The shop owner and three of his staff were assaulted during the robbery. The complainant can identify one of the suspects. Fingerprints have been taken and the police are investigating the matter. No arrests have been made yet.
