Woman dies after brutal beating
MIDRAND - Glen Austin resident Karen Dettmer was attacked and brutally beaten in her home in Crocodile Lodge on George Road on 15 November.
Melanie Mc Kernan, a close friend to Dettmer, said Dettmer since passed away.
Mc Kernan said, “Karen was a mother to a 19 year old son and 5 year old daughter. She was a sister, an aunt a life partner and a friend. We, her family and friends are heartbroken that she has been ripped apart from us so soon.
The family are looking for answers and are offering a substantial reward for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators. We need answers, closure and justice.”
Midrand police’s Lieutanant Colonel Ruth Basson said they are looking for the murderers and explained that Dettmer suffered severe head trauma and was in a coma on life support for 13 days after the incident.
She passed away in Casternhoff Clinic’s ICU.
Basson said, “Her family and friends are heartbroken and hope for justice to be done.”
