Community helps to stop hunger
SUNNINGHILL - Community members from Midrand and Fourways united to help stop hunger but packing Stop Hunger Now boxes at Sunninghill Village shopping centre.
Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief agency that has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger around the world for more than 15 years. Since 1998 the organisation has coordinated the distribution of food and other lifesaving aid to children and families in countries all over the world.
In 2005 the organisation started its meal packaging programme which uses an assembly line process to package set quantities of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavouring mix containing 21 essential vitamins and minerals. They then work with international partners to ship and distribute the packaged meals in different countries that are in need.
The Sunninghill Village packaging event had an incredible turnout of volunteers who donned hair nets and plastic gloves to package the food to be shipped out.
