Burst pipe repaired

MIDRAND - Joburg Water spokesperson Milicent Kabwe said the burst pipes on Lever Road have been fixed.

Kabwe said, “The burst water pipe was repaired on 29 November 2013.”

Noordwyk residents had complained that smelly water had been flowing on corner of Liebenberg and Lever roads for over eight months, last year.

Residents thought the water came from a burst sewage pipe. Kabwe said the pipe was not a sewage pipe, in spite of what residents have claimed.

One of the residents who complained about the issue was Jose Almeida from Noordwyk who said, “We thought it was sewage water because of the stench and the consistency of the waste in the water. I can confirm that Joburg Water has taken care of the flooding and the smell has gone too. It is sad that it took so long, it must have [had] negative health implications.”

Almeida added that service delivery in Midrand is a big problem.
