SPCA thanks community
GLEN AUSTIN - Midrand SPCA has been in the spotlight on social networking sites as the community pulled together to spread the word that pet food was needed.
The society received donations from individuals and companies and it extended thanks for the support.
Midrand SPCA chairperson Brenda Lucas explained why food was in constant need at the society.
She said at any given time the organisation was home to 120 to 150 animals.
“We use 60kg of dry dog food a day and about 10kg of dry cat food. This means we use roughly 1.8 tons of dog food per month and 300kg of cat food per month,” said Lucas.
For those who wish to support the SPCA branch with dog food or help, it is situated at 6 Dale Road in Glen Austin.
