Biker dies on the R55
SPOKESPERSON for ER24 Luyanda Majija said a motorcyclist died in Midrand on the morning of 7 February.
“A biker died on the R55 this morning when he collided with a taxi. Our team arrived after 8am and found that the deceased had multiple injuries. It is alleged that the biker and the taxi driver were driving in the same direction on the road’s 2m edge when the taxi driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with the biker,” Majija said.
The deceased was in his thirties.
The impact of the collision threw the biker into the veld on the side of the road and the taxi also collided with another vehicle. Majija said the taxi driver did not have any injuries, and the driver of the vehicle that the taxi collided with had minor injuries. The injured driver was taken to a nearby hospital.
