Paws R Us receives donation
MIDRAND - PAWS R Us is a non-profit company and registered rescue organisation that relies solely on public and corporate donations.
The company is not a shelter but rather has partnered with about 20 foster homes spread throughout Gauteng and makes use of rescue kennels on Summit Road. Visits are by appointment only.
Tanya Nel of Paws R Us said, “We are always so very grateful for any donations we receive. We feel so privileged and blessed to have received a large donation of food from Orijen and Acana last week. A very big thank you to Grant Walliser from Champion Petfoods.”
Nel said on average, Paws R Us has between 30 and 40 rescue dogs in their kennels at any given time. “We currently go through between 50kg and 75kg dry food per week. We also have 25 dogs in foster care. So in total we take care of about 65 dogs. This food donation will be used for our specific nutritional cases, one of which is Scooby,” said Nel.
Scooby is a senior dog who has recently had knee surgery and will most likely suffer from joint problems in the future.
“Senior dogs are best fed a diet rich in meat proteins to support mean muscle mass, yet low carbohydrates which can lead to obesity and diabetes. Acana Senior is the best food Scooby could wish for and we are glad we can make a difference to his health and well-being,” said Walliser.
If readers would like to make any donations, they can email Paws R Us. “We are also always in need of solid and reliable foster homes,” said Nel.
