Home opens doors to community

PRESIDENT PARK - New Jerusalem Children's Home will host its open day tour for the year on 27 February from 9.30am to 12pm.

Secretary of the board of directors Raymond Madibogo said the President Park-based home is the first eco-friendly home built out of 28 shipping containers and is the first of its kind to use renewable energy and recycled water for its day-to-day operations.

It is home to 80 children who are provided with three healthy meals a day, sheltered and clothed with the help of donors.

CEO and co-founder of the home Anna Mojapelo will guide guests around the home and explain her experiences of the home since 2000 when she and her sister Phina established the organisation.

“She will also be talking about future developments of the organisation which need your help in developing them,” said Madibogo. The tour will also be talking about sustainable developments which aim to create jobs for communities surrounding the home and to ensure better lives for the currently disadvantaged.”

The event will be held at the home at 138 Steyn Road, President Park.

Madibogo welcomes community members to visit the home on the open day and to RSVP to Mpho Sechabela or Anna Mojapelo. Personal tours may also be arranged at a different time and date.
