Mission for a hunger-free zone in Midrand

MIDRAND - The Food For Life Programme South Africa will pursue its mission to declare Midrand a hunger free zone on 30 March.

Food For Life South Africa is affiliated to Food For Life Global, which is the world’s largest vegetarian food relief programme serving over a million plates of cooked meals a day and it is funded mainly by member donations and corporate grants.

Its local branch in Midrand continues to make inroads as a local food relief network in the community. On 30 March, this branch will visit Tumelo Home for the mental handicapped, Thuthukani Centre and Seladi La Thuto Creche, which are based in Ivory Park and the New Jerusalem Children’s Home in President Park.

Midrand chairperson Nrsinga Dasa said that anyone is welcome to experience the bliss of sharing the vision of ‘declaring Midrand a hunger free zone’. He stressed that Food For Life is a non-profit, non-sectarian, non-racial organisation.

“It all starts with a small baby steps. Rome was not built in a day. It takes months and years to achieve a goal. We are dedicated to helping our children live a healthy, well balanced and joyful life. This starts with showing them someone cares and loves them,” he added.
